The fact that Prague is often defined as the "Paris of the East" is only partly due to the pleasant nature of its monuments and localities; the term also derives from this iron tower which was built for the Prague Industrial Exhibition in 1891 as an imitation of the Parisian Eiffel Tower. It is 60 meters tall and now used as a television tower. You can climb to the top on foot (299 steps).
