Museum of communism

The Museum of Communism will allow for the display and interpretation of objects and historic documents. It stands as an authoritative historical narrative relating to this 20th century phenomenon and is in no way intended by the organisers as a filter for contemporary political issues in the Czech Republic.

This is the first museum in Prague (since the Velvet Revolution) exclusively devoted to a system established in the sphere of the former Soviet Union. The original items and meticulous installations containing authentic artefacts will be displayed in the three main rooms (please see the plan on reverse), while the adjacent projection room will provide a space for regular film screenings, educational activities, occasional lectures and temporary displays pertaining to the subject of the permanent exhibition.

Highlights from the displays include rare items from the Museum's own comprehensive archive as well as material obtained by the organisers from major collections, both public and private.
